Immigrant trauma is a complex psychological response stemming from prolonged stress, violence, or persecution experienced across the three phases of migration, including before, during and after. The protective factors that include familismo, and culture-based connections seem to fade with each subsequent generation of immigrant descendants. This phenomenon, called the Latino Paradox highlights the toxic nature of assimilation and loss of identity for Latino immigrant descendants. Connecting to ancestral wellness is a form of reclaiming mental health and represents a critical foundation for Ancestral wellness partitioners.
